For whom much is given much is required

Like mentioned previously the blog is taking a different direction for the time being. Today I am going to talk about service and why I believe it is important.

To me it comes down to a few words: “To whom much is given much is required.” This is a quote from the Bible. Whether you believe the Bible or not that statement is a principle to try to live by. Those of us who have the ability and opportunity to help others should. The only way the human race will continue to survive is we help each other. The world today faces so many challenges and we need each other. To quote Disney channel’s best movie ever produced “we are all in this together.” Therefore, it must be us helping each other out when we see those hurting, experiencing injustices, and struggling to survive. I believe it is vital that EVERYONE does their part.

Many times children are placed in situations and circumstances they were not asked to be placed in and they need help and guidance. There are people in the world who need help and are unable to take of themselves. And I don’t mean just around the world, but in your own neighborhood as well. You may not be called to go into the deepest jungles of Africa and build homes, but you can spend a Saturday at soup kitchen or $15 a month to sponsor a family (but make sure it’s a reputable organization) or you can spend 20 minutes shoveling your elderly neighbor’s driveway. We are all called to help different people different ways. It’s important to figure out the way you’re meant to help and do it. You’ll be surprised how happy and fulfilled your life will feel. Helping others brings so much joy. This is why when people go on mission’s trips many times they come back with their lives completely different because of the experiences they have had. This is one reason why I encourage everyone to do service trips in and outside of their respective countries.

Service is something we all can do and I believe it’s our duty. Go out and find a way it’s right under your nose. Another post I will give suggestions on some good places and how you can make a difference.

This post was just an explanation of the importance service and helping other is. I hope I explained myself well and you understand why service and helping others is important and near and dear to my heart.
